The written step-by-step video tutorial:
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Draw a curved line for the witch's nose. The shape of the nose should be similar to a squished letter C with a flat bottom. To the left, draw a couple of tiny curved lines for the nostril and for a mole.
Step 2: On top of the nose, draw a small circle for the first eye. To the left, draw a half-circle for the other eye that's partly blocked by the witch's nose.
Step 3: Above each eye, draw a thick, dark shape for the witch's eyebrows. Inside each eye, draw a tiny dot for the pupils.
Step 4: Below the nose, draw a line that curves up toward the eye for the top part of the mouth. Add a short smile line at the top and then curve the lines back down for the lower part of the witch's mouth. Below the mouth, draw another line that curves to the left and then back to the right to form the chin.
Step 5: Inside the mouth, draw a couple of lines for the tongue. Draw a small square on the lower part of the mouth for a tooth and a couple of hairs on the witch's chin.
Step 6: Directly above the eyes, draw a long, sloping line for the brim of the hat. Make the brim of the witch's hat thicker by adding a couple of extra lines at the top.
Step 7: Draw the pointy shape of the top of the hat using a series of curved lines. The witch will be flying, so the top of the hat should be slanted toward the right as the wind hits it. The hat should be wide at the bottom and gradually get thinner at the top.
Step 8: Inside the witch's hat, draw a strap and a buckle using a series of rectangular shapes.
Step 9: Under the hat, on the right side, draw a few curved lines for the witch's hair. The lines for the hair should slope to the right to simulate the hair blowing in the wind.
Step 10: On the lower, right side of the head, draw a couple of long, curved lines for the witch's arm. The lines should slope toward the lower, left side. At the bottom, draw a few jagged lines for the tattered cuff.
Step 11: Below the cuff, draw a round shape for the hand. Add curved lines at the bottom for the witch's knuckles.
Step 12: Above the first hand, draw a small oval for the thumb on the witch's other hand. On the left, draw a series of overlapping ovals for the fingers that will be wrapped around the broom handle.
Step 13: On the bottom, right side of the arm, draw a long, curved line for the witch's bent leg. At the bottom, draw a series of short arcs for the pointy lower edge of the dress.
Step 14: On the right side, draw a long, curved line for the witch's hunched-over back and bottom.
Step 15: Below the dress, draw the visible part of the witch's first shoe. Draw a couple of squares on the right side for the buckle. Then draw a pointy shape on the left for the tip of the shoe and a pointy shape on the right for the heel.
Step 16: Draw the outline of the witch's other shoe the same way as the first.
Step 17: Draw a couple of parallel lines across the lower part of the body for the broom handle. The handle should slope from the top, left side to the bottom, right side. Don't overlap the witch's body. Use a straight edge if you're having trouble drawing a straight line.
Step 18: Draw a rectangular shape on the lower, right side for the bottom part of the witch's broom. The right edge of the shape should be made up of jagged lines to simulate the broom's bristles. Inside, draw a few lines for the band holding the bristles and more lines for the bristles themselves.
Step 19: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your flying witch drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.
Final Step: Color your flying witch drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! Use purple for the hat and dress. Use black for the hat band and the shoes. Use yellow for the hat and shoe buckles and orange for the hair. Use green for the witch's skin and dark red for the inside of the mouth. Use pink for the tongue, brown for the broom handle and light brown and yellow for the bristles.
