The written step-by-step video tutorial:
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Draw the football player's helmet by first drawing a short, sloping line. On the left side, continue to draw the line up and curve it to the right. This top part of the helmet should be similar to a half-circle. Continue to draw the line downward past the front of the helmet. At the bottom, add a curved line for the part of the helmet that protects the football player's ear and close the shape.
Step 2: Below the helmet, draw the bottom part of the head using a series of angled lines. Make the side of the football player's face dip inward to create the cheekbone. Make the chin blocky at the bottom.
Step 3: Starting at the ear section of the helmet, draw a line across the face for the face mask. Add another thick line at the bottom over the chin for the lower part of the face mask. Draw two short, thick lines that connect the longer lines to complete the football player's face mask.
Step 4: Inside the face, at the top, draw two small triangles for the eyes. Don't give the eyes pupils for a tougher look. Below the eyes, draw a short, angled line for the football player's nose. It's okay to overlap the face mask. Below the nose, draw two short lines for the mouth.
Step 5: To the right of the football player's head, draw a big curved line for the first shoulder pad. The shape should be similar to a half-circle. Sketch lightly at first and darken the line only after you get the shape right. Under the head, draw a small, V- shaped line for the jersey's collar.
Step 6: To the right of the shoulder pad, draw a curved shape for the football player's arm. The arm should be round at the top for the bicep. Then it should bend downward and become thinner for the forearm.
Step 7: Below the football player's forearm, draw two short lines for the glove's opening. To the left, draw a small, curved line for the thumb. At the bottom, draw three smaller curved lines for the fingers.
Step 8: Draw a curved line from the hand to the bicep for the football. Add some lines inside for the stitches.
Step 9: Under the head, draw a shape similar to an oval for the other hand that's rolled into a fist. Make the top part of the oval blockier and add a few curved lines at the top for the folded fingers. Add some smaller lines for the football player's knuckles. Remember to sketch lightly at first to get the shapes right.
Step 10: To the left of the head, draw a big, curved line for the football player's other shoulder pad.
Step 11: Under the hand, draw an oval- like shape for the football player's forearm. Above that, draw a curved line for the bicep.
Step 12: Between the arms, draw two long lines for the football player's chest and torso.
Step 13: Draw a long, curved, sloping line below the torso for the top part of the first leg and knee. At the bottom, draw another long, curved line for the bottom of the football player's leg. Inside, draw a shorter line for the padding.
Step 14: Under the knee, draw two vertical lines for the lower section of the football player's leg. At the bottom, draw a thin shape with a pointy tip on the left side for the first cleat. Add a few V- shaped lines at the bottom for the spikes.
Step 15: On the right side, draw the top part of the football player's other leg and knee using a few curved lines.
Step 16: To the right of the knee, draw two horizontal lines for the lower part of the leg. To the right, draw a thin shape that has pointy tip pointing down for the football player's shoe. Draw a series of small, V-shaped lines along the sole of the cleat or the spikes.
Step 17: Add a few extra details to your football player drawing like a stripe on the helmet. Add your favorite team's logo on the side or just draw a small circle for simplicity. Add a number to the jersey on the shoulder pads and on the front. You can draw your favorite number; it doesn't have to be 7. Just make it big and blocky. Draw a stripe on the football player's pants using a couple of long , curved lines. On the right side, draw a towel using a series of curved lines. You can skip this part if you'd like.
Step 18: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your football player drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.
Final Step: Color your football player drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! You can use your favorite football team's colors. Like green and yellow for the Packers or red and gold for the 49ers. For this look using the Cowboys colors, use blue for the jersey, helmet details and cleats and gray for the pants, helmet and gloves. Use light brown or peach for the skin and brown for the football. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
