Each cartoon character has a video drawing tutorial option, as well as step-by-step photos and written text to follow.

 

To draw a Snowflake step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to go at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below. The new lines in each step are shown in red, and each step is explained in the text below the photo, so you'll know exactly what to draw in each step. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods! Take your time and draw at your own pace.

 

The written step-by-step video tutorial:

 

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

 

 

Step 1: Draw a long, vertical line for the first part of the snowflake. The line doesn't have to be perfectly straight, but if you want a straight line, you can use a ruler.

 

Step 2: Guesstimate where the middle of the line is and make a small mark. Draw a long, diagonal line that bypasses the small mark in the middle of the vertical line.

 

 

 

Step 3: Draw another diagonal line that slopes the other way. All three lines should be about the same length. The space between them should be about equal too.

 

Step 4: Draw a couple of vertical lines around the first line to make the shape thicker. Make the tips pointy and don't connect the shape in the middle.

 

Step 5: Do the same thing for the lines on the left side. Follow the initial lines and make the shapes thicker. Don't make these new shapes too thick. Follow the initial lines closely and make the tips pointy.

Step 6: Do the same thing to the lines on the right side. Make them thick and pointy. These new shapes should meet in the middle. The lines shouldn't overlap. The lines in the middle are only guidelines for the snowflake that will be erased later.

 

Step 7: Add a couple of angled lines in the wedges close to the center of the snowflake. You can decorate your snowflake differently if you'd like. Just make sure you do the same thing to all sides.

 

Step 8: Finish adding the angled lines to the center of the other wedges.

 

 

 

Step 9: Add a small triangle to the left side of the top "spoke." Now do the same on the right side. Try to make both of these spike-like triangles the same size. Now add a couple more of these triangles to the spoke on the top, left side. Draw the spike-like triangles on the spoke on the top, right side of the snowflake too.

 

Step 10: Finish adding the spike- like triangles to the shapes at the bottom. Remember that whatever you do to one side of the snowflake you have to repeat on all the sides. The sides don't have to look exactly alike. As long as they look more or less the same, it should be fine.

Step 11: Draw a small, thin shape with a pointy tip to each side of the top spokes. Each of these small shapes should be made up of two short lines that come to a point at the top.

 

Step 12: Draw the small, pointy shapes to the bottom part of the snowflake too. Sketch lightly as you draw so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake.

 

 

 

Step 13: Add a small, hexagonal shape at the tip of each end on the snowflake. You can also use a diamond shape instead. Or skip this part entirely if you don't have enough room. Every snowflake is different, so it's okay if yours looks slightly different.

 

Step 14: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your snowflake drawing permanent. For a cleaner drawing, just ink over the outer edges of the shapes; don't overlap the lines. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

 

Final Step: Color your snowflake drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! Use dark blue on the edges. Use light blue or the rest of the snowflake. For a simpler drawing, only use light blue. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
