Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Start by drawing a big circle on the top half of the paper. The circle doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a basic guide for Draculaura's head.
Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the circle, one vertical and one horizontal. Bend the lines so they follow the contour of the shape. The vertical line should be close to the right side, and the horizontal line should be near the bottom of the circle. These are construction lines that will help you place Draculaura’s facial features later on.
Step 3: Under the circle, draw two curved lines as guides for Draculaura's neck and shoulders. Draculaura has a very skinny frame, so don't make the shoulders too wide.
Step 4: Inside the circle, draw two shapes similar to footballs guides for Draculaura's eyes. Draw them sitting on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line. The shape on the right should be smaller because of perspective.
Step 5: Draw a curved line similar to a letter C on the left side of the head as a guide for Draculaura's ear. On the bottom edge of the main circle, where the vertical construction line ends, draw a small oval as a guide for Draculaura's mouth.
Step 6: Inside the main circle, above Draculaura's eyes, draw a horizontal line that's parallel to the first horizontal construction line. Also draw two curved lines on both sides of her. These are guides for her hair.
Step 7: That's it for the initial sketch! You have the basic shape for Draculaura. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 8: Draw Draculaura's nose using the construction lines as guides for placement. Draw a line on the left side of the right eye for the bridge of her nose. Under that draw a series of small arcs for the tip of her nose and nostril. On the right side of Draculaura's face, draw a small heart.
Step 9: Use the initial football shapes as guides to draw Draculaura's eyes. Darken the edges of the shapes and make the lines thicker. Draw curved, pointy lines on the top and bottom to create her thick eyelashes. Draw a curved line above each eye for Draculaura's eyelids.
Step 10: Inside each eye, draw a circle for Draculaura's irises. Inside each iris, draw a smaller circle and shade it in for her pupils. Draw a smaller circle still and a triangle in each eye to represent glare and reflection.
Step 11: Above each eye, draw a thick curved line that comes to a point for Draculaura's eyebrows.
Step 12: Use the small oval at the bottom of the main circle as a guide to draw Draculaura's lips. The top lip is very wavy and comes to a point on the left side. The middle line that makes up her lips is similar to the top but not as wavy. The bottom lip is simply a curved line. Draw a small triangle-like shape on the inside for one of her fangs.
Step 13: Draw the ear on the left side of the head by using the C-shaped line as a guide. Make the top part of Draculaura's ear pointier and draw a few curved lines inside the shape to give the ear structure.
Step 14: Draw a circle on Draculaura's earlobe for her earring. Under the circle, draw a safety pin. The safety pin consists of another circle, two sets of lines under it and a shape similar to the letter U at the bottom. Use the picture above for further reference when drawing Draculaura's earring.
Step 15: Draw Draculaura's face using the main circle as a guide. Draw a series of curved lines on the right side to create her cheekbone. Draw a long curved line at the bottom to create her chin and jaw.
Step 16: Draculaura's hair is a bit tricky, so it's split into three steps. Use the edge of the main circle and the top horizontal line as guides to draw the first part of her hair. Draw her half-circle-like bangs first, and then darken the edge of the main circle.
Step 17: Use a series of curved lines to add the stripes in Draculaura's hair. Follow the basic curvature of the her head and bangs when drawing her hair stripes.
Step 18: Darken the lines to create Draculaura's pigtails and draw a few lines within the pigtails for the stripes in her hair.
Step 19: Darken the lines to create Draculaura's neck and and shoulders. Draw a few lines within the shapes to create her clothes. This is a simplified version of her outfit, so it doesn't include the ruffles at the top of her collar.
Step 20: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Draculaura from Monster High. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the next step.
Step 21: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Draculaura! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Draculaura drawing.
Final Step: For a completely finished Draculaura drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Her hair alternates between black and dark pink. Her face is light pink, and her eyes are violet. Draculaura's lips, heart, eyelids and vest are dark pink too. Her shirt is purple, and the safety pin is gray. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of Draculaura from Monster High.
