To draw Lincoln Loud step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to go at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below. The new lines in each step are shown in red, and each step is explained in the text below the photo, so you'll know exactly what to draw in each step. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods! Take your time and draw at your own pace.

The written step-by-step video tutorial:

 

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

 

Step 1: Draw a big circle near the top of the paper as a guide for Lincoln Loud's head. First make four small marks to indicate the circle's height and width. Then connect the marks using curved lines. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. If you're struggling to draw the circle, trace the outer rim of a cup, a lid or any other object with a circular edge.

 

Step 2: Draw a curved, horizontal line across the head to help you place Lincoln's facial features later. Above the horizontal line, close to the right side, add a short, curved vertical line for another construction line.

 

 

 

Step 3: Under the head, draw two curved, vertical lines that are close together as a guide for the Lincoln Loud's body. Connect the lines at the bottom with a shorter line. The overall shape should be similar to a curved rectangle.

 

Step 4: To the left of the body, draw a curved line that's similar to the letter C as a guide for Lincoln's first arm. On the right, draw a line that curves up for the other arm. The lines should also bend at the tip as guides for the hands.

 

Step 5: Under the body, draw a curved, vertical line as a guide for the first leg. Below the leg, draw an oval on its side as a guide for Lincoln's foot.

Step 6: Draw another curved line and oval to the right for the other leg and foot. Don't overlap the ovals. Pay attention to the size of all these shapes and lines in relation to Lincoln's head.

 

That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more defined drawing.

 

 

 

Step 7: Draw a small arc directly where the construction lines meet for the nose. Lincoln's nose should be similar to an upside-down and tilted letter U.

 

Step 8: Draw an oval sitting on the horizontal construction line, to the left of the vertical line for the first eye. Sketch lightly at first and when you get the shape right, darken the lines. To the right, draw another oval for Lincoln's other eye but don't overlap the first eye or the nose. Pay attention to the size of the eye in relation to the rest of the head.

 

Step 9: Inside each eye, draw a tiny oval and shade it in for the pupils. The pupil on the left should be close to the middle of the eye. The pupil on the right should be close to the left side of the eye. Above each eye, draw a thick curved line for the eyebrows. On the side of each eye, draw another curved line to give Lincoln Loud's face more expression.

Step 10: Add the mouth by first drawing a sloping horizontal line under Lincoln's eyes and nose. Then draw a curved line for the bottom of the mouth. The overall shape should be similar to the letter D on its side. The mouth should take up most of the space below the horizontal construction line.

 

Step 11: Inside the mouth, at the top, draw a W-shaped line for the front teeth. At the bottom of the mouth, draw a curved line for Lincoln's tongue.

 

 

 

Step 12: To the left of the head, draw a C-shaped line for Lincoln Loud's ear. Inside the ear, draw a couple of curved lines for the inner structure.

 

Step 13: Use the original circle as a guide to draw the shape of the head. Follow the basic path of the circle to form the shape of the head but make it taller at the top. Lincoln's head is more like an oval than a circle, pay attention to where the line is compared to the initial circle guide. Darken the initial circle guide by his chin and forehead. On the top side near his ear, and on the right near his right eye and nose, draw the line farther from the initial circle.

 

Step 14: Draw a couple of curved lines near the top of the head for the first part of the hair. The first part of the line should curve toward the eye, then back up to the eyebrow. The second part of the line should curve toward the right side of the head. Above Lincoln's ear, draw a couple of curved vertical lines for the sides of the hair.

Step 15: Inside the top part of the hair, draw a couple of curved lines for more detail. Separate the lines evenly. The bottom line will be longer than the top line. On the top, right side of the head, draw a line with three bumps for the part of the hair that flips up. On the top, right side of the head, draw a line with three bumps for the part of the hair that flips up. On the top, left side of the head, draw a couple of short lines for loose hair strands. On either side of the face, draw three small dots Lincoln's freckles.

 

Step 16: Use the curved line on the left side of the body as a guide to draw Lincoln Loud's first arm. Follow the path of the guide and draw the shape of the arm around it. The arm should be skinny, so draw the lines close to the guide. Follow the curvature of the guide and at the bottom, draw a small, U-shaped line for the first finger. Add a finger on either side for a total of three fingers. Draw a small line near the top of the arm for the shirt's sleeve.

 

 

 

Step 17: Darken the sides of the initial shape for the torso. The bottom edge of Lincoln's shirt should be higher than the guide. Add a couple of V-shaped lines at the top for the collar. Between the V- shaped lines, draw a small rectangle with a circle inside to finish the collar.

 

Step 18: Use the curved line on the right as a guide to draw the other arm. Follow the path of the guide and draw the shape of the arm around it. Make Lincoln's arm skinny. Draw a line near the middle for the shirt's sleeve. Use the bent portion of the line as a guide to draw the fingers that look like small arcs. There should be three fingers pointing to the right and the thumb pointing to the left.

 

Step 19: Use the curved line under the body, on the left side, as a guide to draw the first leg. Like with the arm, draw the skinny shape of the leg around the guide. Draw the top of Lincoln's pants too.

Step 20: Darken the shape of the oval on the left side to create Lincoln's first shoe. Add a horizontal line along the bottom for the shoe's sole. Above the sole, draw a series of small rectangles for the shoe's design and laces.

 

Step 21: Draw Lincoln's other leg around the vertical guide on the right. Darken the oval on the right to create the other shoe but don't overlap the lines of the first shoe. Draw this shoe's sole, the design and the laces the same way as the first.

 

 

 

Step 22: For a more finished look, carefully go over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker.

 

Step 23: After inking, get rid of the pencil marks with an eraser.

 

Step 24: Color your Lincoln Loud drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! Color the skin peach. If you don't have peach, use yellow-orange or light brown. Color the inside of the mouth black. Color the tongue pink and the shirt orange. Color Lincoln's pants dark blue, and then use red for the stripes on the shoes.
