How to Draw Anais Watterson

Intro: When learning how to draw Anais, start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Start by drawing an oval near the middle of the page. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide for drawing Anais' head.
Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the oval, one vertical and one horizontal. The vertical line should be right across the middle of the oval, while the horizontal line should be a bit closer to the bottom. These will be construction lines that will help you when learning how to draw Anais' facial features later on.
Step 3: Now draw guides for Anais' eyes by drawing two tall arcs right above the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical line. The sides of the oval should graze the vertical construction line.

Step 6: Under Anais Watterson's head, draw a small trapezoid as a guide for the first part of the body. The trapezoid is similar to a triangle with the top cut off. This character from Cartoon Network's The Amazing World of Gumball is small, so don't draw this shape too big. Its height should be about the size of the lower half of the original oval.
Step 7: Draw a line on either side of Anais' body as guides for the arms. The line on the right should curve up, while the line on the right should point down and be angled near the end. Draw a small oval at the end of each line as guides for when you learn how to draw Anais' hands later on.
Step 8: Below the body, draw a square-like shape as the first part of the guide for Anais' feet. Anais has tiny feet, especially when compared to her head, so don't draw this shape too big.
Step 9: Draw a line in the middle of the square-like shape to split Anais' legs in two. At the bottom, on either side of the shape, draw two curved lines as guides for the ends of her feet.
Step 10: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have learned how to draw Anais' basic shape. Now go in and tighten your drawing. When learning how to draw Anais from this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 11: Tighten the shape of Anais' mouth by using the initial arc as a guide. At the top of the guide, draw a sort of flat oval shape for where you will draw Anais' muzzle and nose. Then darken the line under that shape to create Anais' open mouth.
Step 12: At the top of the small oval-like shape above Anais' mouth, draw a small curved line for her nose. Then draw a small line under it that splits the muzzle in half. Draw a square-like shape under the muzzle for Anais' big tooth in front. Draw a curved line at the bottom for her tongue.
Step 13: Now learn how to draw the big eyes of this character from Cartoon Network's The Amazing World of Gumball. Use the initial arcs as guides to draw them. Simply darken the line of the arcs and close the line underneath the arcs to create the ovals for her eyes. Inside each eye, draw another oval and shade it in for Anais' pupils.
Step 14: Above each eye, draw a small shape for Anais' eyebrows. Her eyebrows should be very close to the edge of the original oval. On the side of each each eye, draw a three small lines for her eyelashes.
Step 15: Use the initial shape of the original oval as a guide to draw Anais' head. Darken the oval, but when you get to the top right side, dip the line in toward the eye and then back out again to create Anais' big cheeks.
Step 16: Now learn how to draw Anais' ears. Use the curved lines on top of Anais' head as guides to draw them. Follow the basic path of the lines fatten up the shape of the ears. The ends should be big and round.
Step 17: Use the small line on the left side of Anais' body as a guide to draw the arm. Follow the path of the line as you thicken up the arm. At the end of the arm, use the small oval as a guide to draw her hand. Draw two lines inside the shape of the hand for her fingers and two lines on her arm for her sleeve.
Step 18: Draw Anais' dress by using the trapezoid as a guide. Darken the line for the trapezoid and draw a horizontal line on top. Below that line, draw a curved line similar to the letter W for the collar of this character from Cartoon Network's The Amazing World of Gumball.
Step 19: Use the line on the right as a guide to draw Anais' other arm. Simply thicken up the arm as you follow the path of the line. Use the small oval at the end to draw Anais' hand and thumb. Draw two small line inside the hand shape for her fingers and two lines on the arm for her sleeve.
Step 20: Now learn how to draw Anais' legs and feet. Use the initial shapes at the bottom as guides. Darken the lines and draw two small lines near the middle of her legs to create the top part of her boots.
