How to Draw Tigger
Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Tigger from Disney's Winnie the Pooh. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!
Intro: Start drawing Tigger with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Start drawing Tigger with a circle on top half of the page. This will be the basic shape for Tigger’s head.
Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the circle, one vertical and one horizontal. When drawing the lines, bend them so that they follow the contour of the sphere. These will be construction lines that will help you place Tigger’s features later on.
Step 3: Now draw a circle inside the main circle on the lower right side. This is the basic shape for this cartoon character's nose.
Step 4: Draw two C-shaped curves on either side of Tigger’s head, which will be his ears. The left C should be slightly above the horizontal construction line, while the right C should be slightly below it.
Step 5: Below the main head shape, draw two big U-shaped curves, one inside the other. These are the basic shapes for Tigger’s mouth.
Step 6: That's it for the initial sketch of Tigger from Disney's Winnie the Pooh! You have the basic Tigger shape, so now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 7: Tighten the shape of Tigger’s nose by tapering the bottom part of the circle and giving it more of a rounded triangle shape.
Step 8: Wrap a curve around the bottom part of Tigger’s nose to draw his snout. Draw the curve below the horizontal construction line and make it graze the main head shape on the lower right side.
Step 9: Darken in Tigger’s lower jaw by using the two U-shaped curves as guides. When drawing the jaw, extend the left side of his mouth to the inside of the main circle to meet the left side of his snout. On the right side of his mouth, draw a small curvature to the right for a better shape.
Step 10: Tighten the shape of Tigger’s ears by making them less round and more pointy at the top. Draw a line on each ear that begins on the inside middle and extends to his snout. Draw two lines in the bottom of the ear shape to indicate the inside of this cartoon character's ears.
Step 11: Draw two thick, bushy eyebrows with jagged ends that tilt up and in toward the middle. Below each of Tigger’s eyebrows, draw a small line that curves toward his nose.
Step 12: Draw the rest of Tigger’s head by connecting his ears to his eyebrows. Draw three lines on either side of his snout to represent whiskers.
Step 13: On either side of the vertical construction line above his nose, draw two small ovals and shade them in. These are Tigger’s eyes. Draw a curve high above each eye and one below each eye to give him eyelids.
Step 14: Use a series of slightly curved triangles to draw the stripes on Tigger's face. Don’t give him too many or too few, or he will look strange. Draw four on the left side and three on the right.
Step 15: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the step below.
Step 16: For a more finished, inked look, carefully go over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Tigger drawing.
Final Step: For a completely finished Tigger drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color Tigger’s head orange. His mask, snout and the inside of his ear are a light yellow. Tigger’s stripes and eyebrows are black, his nose is pink, and the inside of his mouth is a darker pink. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of Tigger from Disney's Winnie the Pooh.
