The written step-by-step video tutorial:
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Draw a small circle near the top of the paper as a guide for Goofy's head. First make four marks to determine the circle's height and width. Then connect the marks using curved lines. If you're struggling to draw the circle, just trace the outer rim of a circular object like a coin or a lid.
Step 2: Draw a horizontal line across the circle as a guide to help you place Goofy's facial features later. Draw a curved, vertical line on the top, left side for another guide line.
Step 3: Draw a big sideways arc on the lower left side of the head as a guide for Goofy's muzzle. The bottom part of this U-shaped arc should be flush with the bottom edge of the circle.
Step 4: Under Goofy's head, draw another U-shaped arc as a guide for the lower jaw. Pay attention to the size of these arcs in relation to the circle. They should be pretty big.
Step 5: Below the head, off to the right, draw a short, horizontal line as a guide for the torso. On the sides, draw two long vertical lines. Pay attention to the length of these lines compared to Goofy's head. Close off the bottom of the rectangular torso guide using a short, curved line.
Step 6: Under the body, on the right, draw a long, vertical line as a guide for Goofy's pants. To the left, draw a parallel line for the other edge of the pant leg. Close off the shape at the bottom.
Step 7: To the left, draw a similar long, rectangular shape as a guide for Goofy's other pant leg.
Step 8: On the right side of the body, near the middle, draw a small circle as a guide for Goofy's first hand. It's okay to overlap the body shapes. Above the circle, draw an angled line as a guide for the arm. On the left side of the body, draw another small circle with a line as a guide for Goofy's other hand and arm.
Step 9: Under the pant legs, draw two long ovals as guides for Goofy's feet. Each oval should be attached to the pant leg by a small line. The ovals should be pointing outward. Goofy has big feet, so make these ovals long.
That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more defined drawing.
Step 10: Draw a small oval onto of the sideways arc on the head for Goofy's nose. Draw a small circle inside the nose for highlight. To the right of the nose, draw a small, curved line for the muzzle. Draw a couple more short, curved lines to the right for the ridges at the top of the muzzle. Use the line for the initial arc and the line inside the head as guides for the path of the muzzle. On the right side, draw a bigger curved line for the top, right side of Goofy's muzzle.
Step 11: Draw a curved, horizontal line along the bottom of the initial arc for Goofy's smile. This line should stretch to the right into the small circle. Add a short line at the tip for a smile line. On the left side, draw a couple more lines for the other half of the smile. Follow the basic path of the arc as you draw this side of the smile. Draw two small, square-like shapes along the bottom curved lines of the smile for the teeth.
Step 12: For Goofy's eyes, draw two thin, tall arcs inside the head sitting directly on top of the muzzle. Use the initial vertical line as a guide for the position of the eyes. The eye on the right should be a bit bigger.
Step 13: Inside each eye, on the lower, left side, draw a small oval for the pupils. Shade the insides of the pupils but leave a tiny circle blank for highlight. Above Goofy's eyes, draw two shorter arcs for the thick brows. Draw the brows along the top edge of the initial circle.
Step 14: Draw the bottom part of the mouth along the path of the initial small arc. The line on the bottom curves inward to create the lower lip. Inside the arc, draw a smaller arc for the mouth. Inside Goofy's mouth, draw a couple of short, curved lines for the tongue.
Step 15: Starting on the lower, right side of the head, draw a thin, long shape for Goofy's first ear. The shape should be similar to a very long and thin letter U. The bottom of the ear should overlap the body. On the lower, left side of the mouth, draw a shorter U-shaped line for the tip of Goofy's other ear. Draw the shape of the head along the edge of the initial circle. At the top, draw three strokes for the hair.
Step 16: On top of the head, draw the first part of Goofy's hat as two short lines. At the top of the lines, draw a longer curved line to close off the shape. At the top of this shape, draw two more short, sloping lines for the sides of the hat. At the top, draw two long, curved lines for the round top of the hat. Inside the hat, in the middle, draw a short, curved line for the band.
Step 17: Use the angled line on the right side of the body as a guide to draw Goofy's arm. Darken the top part of the angled line and curve the tip for the shoulder. Draw the bottom part of the arm around the guide. Make the bottom shape thick. Make the top part of the arm thicker by using another sloping line. At the bottom, draw the rolled up shirt sleeve using a series of short, curved lines. Sketch lightly as you draw the rolled-up sleeve. When you get the shape right, darken the lines.
Step 18: Below the shirt sleeve, draw two small, curved lines for the top part of the glove. Darken the side of the initial circle to create the shape of the hand. Extend the lower edge of the circle to the right and add a small arc for the first finger. Draw two more fingers on top of the first one using curved lines. Draw three lines inside Goofy's hand for the glove detail.
Step 19: Use the initial rectangular shape as a guide to draw Goofy's torso. First draw the shirt's turtleneck using a series of short, curved lines below the head. Draw the neck inside the turtleneck using a short line. Don't overlap the shape of the ear as you draw the neck. Darken the sides of the initial rectangular guide to create the shape of Goofy's neck. Draw a couple of curved lines along the bottom of the shape for the rolled up lower edge of the shirt.
Step 20: Draw a circular line around the shape of the shoulder for the first part of Goofy's vest. Draw a big, L-shaped line across the torso for the vest's first flap. On the left side of the body, draw another big, angled line similar in shape to the letter L to finish the vest.
Step 21: Draw a thin, short arc on right edge of the other small circle for the thumb on the hand. To the left of the thumb, at the top of the circle, draw a taller thin arc for the first finger. To the left, draw another tall arc for another finger. Notice how the arcs for Goofy's fingers curve a bit. On the top, left side of the circle, draw a smaller arc for the pinky finger. Darken the bottom edge of the circle for the hand. Add a small line inside for a crease. Draw a series of curved lines below the hand for the glove's opening and the shirt's sleeve. Don't overlap Goofy's vest as you draw the sleeve. Draw a line at the top for a bit of the shoulder.
Step 22: Darken the edges of the rectangular shapes below the torso to create Goofy's pants. Don't darken the middle line all the way to the top. At the bottom, draw a couple of curved lines for the cuffs. Below the cuffs, draw a couple of short, cylindrical shapes around the guide lines for a bit of Goofy's legs.
Step 23: Draw a couple of short, curved lines around the leg on the right for the top of the first shoe. Draw a couple of short, curved lines close to the top edge of the initial oval for the creases on the shoe. Darken the rest of the oval to complete Goofy's shoe. Draw a small line on the lower, left side for the heel.
Step 24: Use the oval on the left as a guide to draw Goofy's other shoe the same way. Draw the shoe opening and creases at the top and then darken the rest of the oval. Draw the heel at the bottom too.
Step 25: Go over the final sketch lines with a pen, marker or any other type of permanent ink. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser for a cleaner drawing.
Final Step: Color your Goofy drawing using colored pencils, markers or crayons! Use yellow-green for the hat. Use black for the hat band, the main part of the skin, the nose and the vest. Use peach for the muzzle, pink for the tongue and brown for the inside of the mouth. Use orange for the shirt and blue for the pants. Use brown for the shoes.
