Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Draw a big circle near the top of the paper as a guide for Minnie Mouse's head. First draw four small marks for the height and width of the circle, and then connect the marks using curved lines. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make mistake. If you're struggling drawing the circle, trace the outer rim of a coin, a lid or any other object with a circular edge.
Step 2: Draw a curved line across the circle. This line will help you place Minnie 's facial features later. Add a shorter vertical line on the top, left side for another construction line.
Step 3: On the right side of the head, draw a small circle as a guide for the first ear. Draw this circle the same way as the head. Start with small marks, and then connect the marks with curved lines. Pay attention to where the ears are placed on the head. Use the construction lines as guides. Draw another small circle on top of the head as a guide for the second ear. Pay very close attention to the size of Minnie's ears in relation to her head.
Step 4: Using the same method, draw yet another circle below the head as a guide for the body. This circle should be smaller than the head but bigger than the ears. Add two sloping lines that connect to the head to complete the guide for Minnie Mouse's body.
Step 5: On the right side of the body, draw a small angled line as a guide for Minnie's first arm. At the bottom end of the line, draw a small oval as a guide for the hand.
Step 6: To the left of Minnie's body, draw a short, curved line as a guide for the other arm. At the end of the line, draw a small circle as a guide for the other hand.
Step 7: Under Minnie 's body, on the right side, draw a short, angled line as a guide for the first leg. Below the angled line, draw an oval that's tilted to the left as a guide for the foot. To draw the oval, first make a couple of marks to indicate its size, and then connect the marks using curved lines.
Step 8: To the left, draw another short line and oval as a guide for Minnie Mouse's other leg and foot. Make sure that the oval on the left doesn't overlap the one on the right.
That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more defined drawing.
Step 9: Draw Minnie Mouse's nose on the left side of the head, where the construction line ends, as C-shaped line. Close off the C- shaped line to create a small oval and finish the nose. To the right of the nose, draw a small, curved line for the top part of the muzzle.
Step 10: To the right of the vertical construction line, draw a thin, long oval for the first eye. Make a small mark at the top to indicate the height. The eye should sit on the horizontal construction line. Add another oval on the left side for Minnie 's other eye. Notice how tall and close together the eyes are; they almost touch.
Step 11: Inside each eye, draw a small oval and shade it in for the pupils. Place the ovals at the bottom of each eye and close to the right edge. At the top of each eye, draw three short, curved lines for Minnie's eyelashes. Make the lines for the lashes thick so that they stand out.
Step 12: Under the nose, draw a long, curved line for the top part of the mouth. This curved line should sort of follow the path of the big circle but then move inside of it and curve up. The line should end on the right side at the same level as the nose. Below, draw a curved line similar in shape to the letter U for Minnie Mouse's open mouth.
Step 13: Below the open mouth, draw another curved line for Minnie 's lower lip. Inside the mouth, draw two curved lines for the tongue.
Step 14: On top of the head, overlapping the ear, draw the first part of Minnie Mouse's big bow. The shape of this part of the bow is similar to a trapezoid but curvier. Most of the ear will be blocked by this side of the bow. Overlap the lines for the creases on the bow. Make the tips and the sides curved.
Step 15: Draw the other part of Minnie 's bow by first drawing a C-shaped line on the left. Then add a line similar to an upside-down letter V at the top, and then a curved line at the bottom. Add a curved line inside the shape for a crease. Don't overlap the lines for the head.
Step 16: Use the remaining lines as guides to draw the rest of Minnie Mouse's head. Simply darken the outer edges of the guides at the top to create the shape of the head. If you think the ears you drew are too big or too small in relation to the head, fix them now.
Step 17: Using the vertical construction line as a guide, draw a V-shaped line at the top for Minnie Mouse's widow's peak. To the right of the eye, draw a curved line down to the horizontal construction line. Add another curved line at the bottom that goes around the smile to finish the face's mask.
Step 18: Use the short angled line on the right as a guide to draw the arm. First draw the puffy sleeve at the top as a shape similar to a small bell. Then follow the basic path of the guide as you draw the shape of the arm around it. The arm should curve at the joint. Avoid making Minnie 's elbow pointy. The bottom of the arm, the wrist, should end slightly inside the circle guide for the hand.
Step 19: Draw a curved, donut- shaped line around the wrist for the glove's opening. Use the initial circle as a guide to draw Minnie 's hand. First darken the circle's edge. When you get to the bottom, extend the line farther out and curve it to create a finger. Sketch lightly at first to get the shape of the curved finger right, and then darken the line. Add two more curved lines above the bottom finger or two more fingers.
Step 20: Add Minnie Mouse's dress by darkening the left side of the guides and adding a curved line at the bottom. Draw a wavy line that cuts across the bottom half of the initial circle for the bottom edge of the dress. Continue to draw the curved line on the left side to indicate the dress going around the body.
Step 21: Under the dress on the right side, draw a series of curved lines for the underpants' cuff. Darken the left edge of the initial circle and add more curved lines for the other cuff. Inside Minnie's body, near the top, draw two curved lines for the belt on the dress.
Step 22: Draw a curved line under the initial circle on the left for the other glove's opening. Follow the path of the curved guide line and draw the shape of the arm around it. At the top of the arm, draw the other puffy sleeve using a series of short, curved lines.
Step 23: Use the circle on the left as a guide to draw Minnie's other hand. First draw two curved lines along the bottom edge of the initial circle. On the top, right side of the circle, draw a short, curved arc for the thumb. To the left of the thumb, draw a slightly longer arc that curves to the left for the first finger. Draw the other finger to the left the same way but make it slightly longer than the previous finger. On the top, left side of the initial circle, draw another arc that slightly curves to the right for the final finger.
Step 24: Use the line under the body on the right as a guide to form the shape of Minnie's leg. Draw the shape of the leg around the path of the guide.
Step 25: Use the oval on the right side as a guide to draw the foot. Darken the edge of the oval but don't overlap the leg at the top. As you darken the oval, make the lower part a bit pointier. Inside the foot, near the right edge, draw a curved line for the shoe's opening. Near the bottom edge of Minnie's shoe, draw a small bow using a series of curved lines. The bow consists of a small oval in the middle and trapezoid- like shapes on the sides.
Step 26: Use the initial line on the left side as a guide to draw the other leg. Use the oval as a guide to draw the rest of Minnie's shoe. Lightly sketch the bow near the tip. Add a couple of curved lines within the oval for the shoe's opening. When you get the size and position of the bow right, darken the shape using curved lines. Darken the bottom edge of the oval and add a small, curved line on the lower, right side for the heel.
Step 27: Under the dress, on the right side, draw a long, curved line for Minnie's tail. Sketch the tail lightly at first. Make the base a bit thicker than the tip. Optional: Add small circles all over the dress and bow for Minnie Mouse's classic polka dot pattern. The circles shouldn't be in any particular place; just add them randomly. For an easier drawing, skip adding the circles and leave the bow and dress blank.
Step 28: For a more finished look, carefully go over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker.
Step 29: After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.
Final Step: Color your Minnie Mouse drawing using color pencils, markers or even crayons! Color the body and nose black, except for the face. When you color the nose, leave a small oval at the top blank to represent glare. Color Minnie's face peach. If you don't have peach, use yellow- orange or pink. Use red for the bow, dress and the bows on the shoes. Don't overlap the small circles! Use yellow for the shoes, brown for the inside of the mouth and pink for the tongue.
