Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: To learn how to draw Mr. Krabs from Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon, start by drawing an oval on its side near the bottom of the page. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide for the crab's body. Leave enough room at the top to draw his head and eyes.
Step 2: Next, draw an arc on top of the body as a guide for Mr. Krabs' head. The end result should look like a little hill on top of the oval. The height of the hill should be a little more than the height of the oval.
Step 3: Now learn how to draw Mr. Krabs' eye guides. First draw two tall, skinny arcs on top of the hill as guides. The length of the arcs for Mr. Krabs' eyes should be a little more than half the height of both the oval and hill combined.
Step 4: Now learn how to draw Mr. Krabs' arm guides. On the left side of Mr. Krabs' body, draw a guide consists of an angled line that starts where the hill meets the oval, then angles down toward the body. At the end of the line, draw a circle as a guide for his crab claw.
Step 5: Draw a guide for Mr. Krabs' other arm on the right side of the body. This guide consists of a line that angles up toward the head. At the end of the line, draw a big circle for the claw.
Step 6: Under the body, draw two small lines for Mr. Krabs' feet. His crab feet are tiny, so don't draw these lines too long.
Step 7: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic shape of Mr. Krabs from Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 8: Now learn how to draw Mr. Krabs' eyes. First darken the shape of the eye guides. Follow the basic path of the two arcs and bend the lines more. The crab's eyes should be wide at the top and thinner at the bottom.
Step 9: Inside each eye, draw a small oval and shade it in for the pupils. At the top of each eye, draw three tiny arcs for the detail atop Mr. Krabs' eyes.
Step 10: Now learn how to draw Mr. Krabs' mouth. First draw two lines sitting on top of the original oval and underneath the eyes. The lines should start near the left eye, and then split off and curve down and to the right to create this crab cartoon's open mouth.
Step 11: Inside the top part of Mr. Krabs' mouth, draw a long line for the teeth and a curved line at the bottom for his tongue. Draw a small line on the right side to finish off the mouth.
Step 12: Now learn how to draw Mr. Krabs' arm. Draw the arm on the left using the line and circle as guides. Draw bell-like shape at the top part of the arm for his shirt sleeve. Then follow the basic path of the guide line as you make the arm thicker. Darken the basic shape of the circle except for the top. At the top, draw a squiggly line for the opening of the crab claw.
Step 13: Near the top of the head, in between Mr. Krabs' eyes, draw a short, zigzag shape for his nose. The nose should have three bumps on top and three on the bottom, and it comes to a point. Darken the shape of the small hill to create the head and draw a few jagged angles on the left side.
Step 14: Now learn how to draw Mr. Krabs' shirt. At the top of the original oval, draw two curved lines for the top and bottom part of his shirt. At the top part of the shirt, draw three triangle-like shapes for the shirt collar.
Step 15: Now draw Mr. Krabs' arm on the right side using the line and circle as a guide. Draw the shirt sleeve a the base of the arm, then thicken the guide line to create Mr. Krabs' actual arm. Darken the basic circle except for the top part. Inside the circle, draw a couple of squiggly lines to represent the opening of the crab claw.
Step 16: Now learn how to draw Mr. Krabs' pants and feet. Use the bottom part of the original oval and the tiny lines to draw his pant and feet. Darken the sides of the oval and draw the pant cuffs at the top of the feet. Draw the little stumpy crab feet below the pant cuffs using the small lines as guides.
Step 17: Draw the detail of Mr. Krabs' pants inside the original oval shape. Draw a rectangle-like shape near the top for his belt buckle. Draw a couple more rectangle-like shapes on either side of the buckle for the actual belt. Under the belt buckle, draw a small arc for the zipper cover on his pants.
Step 18: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Mr. Krabs the crab from the Nickelodeon cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look, or continue to the step below to go for a more finished look.
Step 19: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for any ink to dry, and then erase your pencil marks. You now have a finished inked drawing of Mr. Krabs! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Mr. Krabs drawing in its entirety.
Final Step: For a completely finished Mr. Krabs drawing, you have to color it. You can use anything you want: markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color the main part of Mr. Krabs' body red. His eyes are light yellow, the inside of his mouth is brown, and his tongue is pink. His shirt is light blue, his buckle is yellow, his belt is black, and his pants are a blueish purple. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of Mr. Krabs, the greedy crab who owns the Krusty Krab restaurant where SpongeBob SquarePants works.
