Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching. For a simpler version of this sketch, just draw Marie’s head.

 

Step 1: Start by drawing a circle near the right side of the page to leave room for Marie's body. The circle doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide for Marie the cat’s head.

 

Step 2: Next draw a vertical line and a horizontal line that intersect inside the circle. Bend them so they follow the contour of the sphere. These will be construction guides that will help you place Marie's facial features later on.

 

Step 3: Draw two small circles as guides for Marie’s eyes. Draw these circles so they sit on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical line.

 

Step 4: Draw two angled lines on top of the circle as guides for Marie's ears. The lines are similar to triangles without the bottom part.

 

Step 5: Draw an oval on the lower left side of the head as a guide for Marie the kitten's body. Notice that the line begins on the left side of the horizontal construction line and ends at the bottom of the vertical construction line.

Step 6: Underneath Marie's body, draw four short lines as guides for her kitten feet. Draw the line near the back so that it has a bit of an angle. On the top left side of the body, draw a wavy line as a guide for Marie's tail.

 

Step 7: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic Marie shape, so now go in and tighten your drawing of this Aristocat. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

 

Step 8: Darken the shapes of Marie’s eyes and make the sides come to a slight point. Draw short lines above the eyes for eyelashes and a longer curved line on top of each eye for Marie's eyelids. Draw two longer curved lines above each eye for this kitten's eyebrows.

 

Step 9: Draw Marie's nose where the construction lines meet. The shape is similar to a triangle with rounder corners on top. Draw two curved lines above her nose for extra detail.

 

Step 10: Below the nose, draw Marie's mouth as a line that splits in two and curls up. Draw tiny smile lines at the end of her mouth and another line underneath for her chin.

Step 11: Draw three long curved lines on either side of Marie's nose for her kitten whiskers.

 

Step 12: Use a series of curved lines to draw a bow sitting on top of Marie's head. Draw a small clump of hair above the bow and the bottom part of the hair below the bow.

 

Step 13: Use the initial circle as a guide to draw Marie's head. On either side of her head draw a series of angled lines to represent the tufts of fur from her cheeks.

 

Step 14: Darken the shapes for Marie's cat ears using the initial triangles as guides. Make the ears bulge out to the sides a bit and draw a few lines within them for the structure.

 

Step 15: Draw a curved line under Marie's head and a few lines on either side of her head for the bow around her neck. If you’re just drawing Marie’s head, you can stop here.

Step 16: Use the lines at the bottom right side as guide to draw Marie’s front feet. Draw the foot in the foreground first. Notice how it’s thicker on top and tapers down at the bottom. Draw a few curved lines at the bottom for her kitten paws. Draw the leg on the background the same way.

 

Step 17: Use the lines on the lower left side as guides to draw Marie’s hind legs. Her hind leg in the foreground is even thicker on top and has more bends. The hind paw is the same as the front paw. Draw the last leg on the other side too.

 

Step 18: Draw the rest of Marie's body by using the initial oval as a guide. Draw a few angled lines under her bow to represent her fluffy chest. Do the same for her furry belly.

 

Step 19: Use the wavy line as a guide to draw Marie's tail. The tail comes to a point and is made up of jagged lines to represent her fur.

 

Step 20: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Marie the kitten from The Aristocats. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the next step.

Step 21: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Marie the kitten from The Aristocats! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Marie drawing.

 

Final Step: For a completely finished Marie drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color this kitten's nose, both of her bows and the inside of her ears pink. Her eyes are blue, and her fur is a very light gray. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of Marie from Walt Disney’s The Aristocats.
