To draw Frosty the Snowman step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to go at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below. The new lines in each step are shown in red, and each step is explained in the text below the photo, so you'll know exactly what to draw in each step. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods! Take your time and draw at your own pace.

The written step-by-step video tutorial:

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Step 1: Draw a big circle near the bottom of the paper as a guide for Frosty the Snowman's body. First make four marks to determine the circle's height and width. Then connect the marks using curved lines. If you're struggling to draw the circle, just trace the outer rim of a circular object like a cup or a lid.

Step 2: At the top, draw a smaller circle as the guide for the head using the four-marks method too. Place the lower mark inside the first circle so that the two circles overlap a bit. Don't make this circle too small. Frosty's head should be about half the size of the body.

Step 3: Draw two intersecting lines inside the head as guides to help you place Frosty the Snowman's facial features later. The horizontal line should be higher than the middle, and the vertical line should be close to the left side.

Step 4: On top of the head, draw a small, cylindrical shape as a guide for Frosty the Snowman's hat.

Step 5: To the right of the body, draw a small circle as a guide for Frosty's first hand. Pay attention to how small this circle is in relation to the first circle. Draw two curved lines that connect the circle to the body to create the guide for Frosty's arm.

Step 6: To the left of the head, draw another small circle as a guide for the other hand. Draw this circle a tiny bit smaller than the circle for the other hand. Draw two long, curved lines that connect this circle to the body to complete the guide for Frosty's arm.

Step 7: On the lower, right side of the body, draw two very short lines as a guide for Frosty's first leg. Below the lines, draw a long oval as a guide for the foot. Make the bottom edge a little flatter than a normal oval.

Step 8: To the left, draw a similar shape except pointing the other way. This will be a guide for the other leg and foot. As you draw this foot, don't overlap the shape of the first foot. Make the size of the feet about equal.

Step 9: Draw a long, vertical line on the right side as a guide for Frosty the Snowman's broomstick. It's okay to overlap the shape of the hand. Pay attention to how high up this line goes. At the top, draw a big, U-shaped line as a guide for the broom bristles. Close of the top of the U with a line.

That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more defined drawing.

Step 10: Inside Frosty's head, draw a small oval where the guide lines intersect for the nose. Sketch lightly at first and only darken the line when you get the shape right. Add curved line inside for extra detail.

Step 11: Draw two long ovals on top of the horizontal guide line for Frosty the Snowman's eyes. The eyes should be on either side of the vertical guide line. The eye on the left should be a bit smaller. Inside each eye, near the bottom, right side, draw a tiny oval and shade it in for the pupils.

Step 12: Below Frosty's nose, draw a long, curved, horizontal line for the mouth. The ends of the mouth should almost touch the horizontal guide line. Add a short smile line at each end. Under the mouth, draw a curved line that's similar to the letter U for the open mouth.

Step 13: On the left side of the mouth, draw two short lines for the pipe's thin stem. At the end of the stem, draw a curved cylindrical shape for the pipe's corncob chamber. Sketch the pipe lightly at first so that's easy to erase if you make a mistake. When you get the shape right, darken the lines.

Step 14: Use the initial circle at the top as a guide to draw Frosty the Snowman's head. Darken the edge of the initial circle but make the bottom part a bit wider. Don't darken the bottom edge of the circle so that the shape connects to the body.

Step 15: On top of the head, draw a curved line for the hat's brim. Draw the line so that it follows the curvature of Frosty's head but make it dip down on the left side. The brim should be kind of wavy. Sketch lightly at first to get the shape right. Darken the initial cylindrical shape but don't overlap the brim. Make the top part wider too.

Step 16: Inside the hat, on the lower, right side draw a small flower using a series of short, curved lines. The lower half of the flower will be hidden behind the hat's brim. To the left, draw a line for the hat's band.

Step 17: Use the small circle on the right as a guide to draw Frosty the Snowman's first hand. Darken the edges of the circle but make the sides narrower and wavier for the clenched fist. Draw a small oval on the left side of the fist for Frosty's thumb. Darken the lines around the fist to create the shape of the arm.

Step 18: Darken the long, vertical line for the broomstick but don't overlap Frosty's fist. Add a second line to the right to make the shape thicker. At the top, draw a series of lines for the base.

Step 19: Use the U shape at the top as a guide to draw the broom's bristles. Draw a small oval at the bottom of the initial guide for the bunched-up bristles. Draw a series of horizontal lines above the oval for the bands that hold the bristles together. Follow the path of the guide as you draw the bristles but make the shape wider. Don't draw every individual bristle. Just draw all of the bristles together as a whole. Make the shape split at the top a few times to emphasize the bristles. Add some lines inside the shape too.

Step 20: Use the first big circle as a guide to draw Frosty the Snowman's body. Follow the basic path of the circle but make the sides a bit wider. Don't darken the top or bottom edges of the circle.

Step 21: Darken the two curved lines on the left side of the body to create Frosty the Snowman's other arm. On the top, right side of the small circle, draw a small arc for the thumb. At the top, draw a slightly longer arc for the index finger. This arc should curve a bit to the right. To the left draw yet another thin arc for the other finger. Make this arc a bit taller. To the left, draw a final short arc for the pinky finger. Darken the side of the circle to complete Frosty's hand.

Step 22: Use the shapes at the bottom as guides to draw the feet. Simply darken the outer edges of the initial guides to create the shapes of the feet. When you draw the inner edges of the legs, draw the lines farther up into the body.

Step 23: Go over the final sketch lines with a pen, marker or any other type of permanent ink. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser for a cleaner drawing.

Final Step: Color your Frosty the Snowman drawing using colored pencils, markers or crayons! Use dark gray for the hat. Use black for the hat band, pink for the flower petals and blue for the flower center. Use dark red for Frosty's mouth and red for the nose. Color the broom bristles yellow-orange. Use light brown for the bands around the bristles and the pipe. Color the broomstick brown. Don't forget to pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace.
