How to Draw Disgust (Inside Out)
Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Disgust from Disney•Pixar's Inside Out. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Start by drawing a small circle near the top of the page as a guide for Disgust's head. The circle doesn't have to be perfect. It's just a guide. Leave enough room at the bottom for the rest of the body.
Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the head, one vertical and one horizontal. Bend the lines so that they contour to the shape of the circle. These will be construction lines that will help you place Disgust's facial features later on.
Step 3: Draw two small shapes as guides for Disgust's eyes. Draw them sitting on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line. The shapes should be similar to the letter D on its side.
Step 4: Under the head, draw a small triangle as a guide for the top part of Disgust's body. Notice how the triangle is somewhat tilted with a diagonal orientation. Also, pay attention to the size of the triangle relative to the size of the head. Don't draw it too big.
Step 5: Under the triangle, draw a shape similar to a bell as a guide for the lower part of Disgust's dress. Again, pay attention to the size of this shape in relation to the triangle above.
Step 6: On either side of the triangle, draw an angled line as a guide for Disgust's arms. The line on the left should angle up toward the head, and the line on the right should bend near the bottom of the triangle. At the end of each line, draw a small circle as a guide for the hands.
Step 7: Under the bell shape, draw two lines as guides for Disgust's legs. The lines should bend a little at the bottom to indicate where the feet will be.
Step 8: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic shape for Disgust. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 9: Draw the top part of Disgust's hair as a series of curved lines on top of the main circle. The lines start on the top right side of the head, then move down diagonally, cover part of the eye on the left and end on the left side of the main circle near the horizontal construction line. The rest of the hair will be drawn at a later step.
Step 10: Darken the initial shapes of Disgust's eyes using thicker lines to emphasize the eyelashes. Make the eye on the right a bit narrower to give her a more disgusted look.
Step 11: Inside each eye, draw a small circle for Disgust's irises. Inside each iris, draw a dot in the middle for the pupils and a tiny circle off to the side to represent glare.
Step 12: Draw Disgust's small nose right on top of where the construction lines intersect. The shape of the nose is similar to a tiny triangle with the lower side detached from the main shape.
Step 13: Disgust's mouth is a little tricky, so it's divided into two parts. First draw the top lip as a couple of wavy lines similar to the letter M. Under those lines, add a couple of curved shapes for the big top teeth.
Step 14: Under Disgust's top lips, draw the bottom lip as a couple of short, curved lined but don't draw the section on the right because the tongue will be covering it. The tongue is basically a couple of curved lines coming from the middle of Disgust's mouth.
Step 15: Above each eye, draw the super long eyelashes using a series of long curved lines. The base for Disgust's eyelashes on the left are being blocked by the front part of the hair, but they poke trough on the left. It's okay if the lines overlap a little.
Step 16: Draw a curved line over each eye for the eyebrows. Disgust's eyebrow on the left is being blocked by the front part of the hair. Use the main circle as a guide to draw the bottom part of the head. Simply darken the lower portion of the main circle but make it slightly pointier at the bottom.
Step 17: Draw Disgust's scarf around her neck using a series of curved lines. The ends of the scarf come to a point on the right side.
Step 18: Use the initial line and circle on the left side as a guide to draw Disgust's arm and hand. Follow the path of the line and make the shape of the arm thicker. Draw the hand and folded fingers using a series of curved lines within the shape of the circle.
Step 19: Use the other angled line and circle as guides to draw Disgust's arm on the right the same way. Follow the path of the angled line as you make the shape of the arm thicker. The hand isn't visible because it's hiding under the arm on the left.
Step 20: Now draw the rest of Disgust's hair behind the head using a series of curved lines. The section of hair on the left curls to the left of the hand. The section of hair on the right ends above the scarf. Don't forget to add the hairline above the eyebrows.
Step 21: Draw the top part of Disgust's dress under the scarf and between the arms. Add a V-shaped line under the scarf for the top opening and a D-shaped line at the bottom for the belt's buckle.
Step 22: Use the bell shape at the bottom as a guide to draw the lower part of Disgust's dress. Follow the basic path of the guide but make the sides curvier. Add a few lines within the shape for the folds of the cloth.
Step 23: Draw Disgust's legs by using the initial lines as guides. Make the shapes of the legs thicker as you follow the basic path of the guides. Draw the shoes at the bottom using a series of curved lines and the ends of her leggings near the middle of the leg.
Step 24: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Disgust. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the next step.
Step 25: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Disgust! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Disgust drawing.
Final Step: For a completely finished Disgust drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Disgust's hair, eyebrows, eyes, eyelashes and belt are green. Her skin is light green or yellow-green. Her dress is blue-green, and her leggings are dark green. Her lips, tongue, scarf and shoes are pink. The inside of her mouth is dark brown. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of Disgust from Disney•Pixar's Inside Out.
