Intro: When learning how to draw Aladdin's genie, start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Start by drawing an circle near the middle of the page. This will be the basic shape for the top of the Genie's head. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide.
Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the circle, one vertical and one horizontal. Bend the lines so that they contour to the shape. These will be construction lines that will help you when learning how to draw the Genie's facial features later on.
Step 3: Draw two ovals as guides for the eyes of Aladdin's Genie. The ovals should sit on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line. The oval on the left should be a bit smaller because of perspective.
Step 4: On the lower left side of the circle, draw a small arc as a guide for the Genie's nose. The arc starts at the horizontal construction line near the eye on the left, curves out toward the edge of the main circle, then curves back in and ends at the vertical construction line.
Step 5: On the bottom part of the circle, draw a line that's similar to the letter D on its side. The bottom part of the shape should be outside of the main circle. The top left side of the shape should be hiding behind the Genie's nose.
Step 6: On the right side of the Genie's head, near the edge of the main circle, draw a curved line similar to a backward letter C as a guide for this Aladdin character's ear. Draw the shape tall and skinny.
Step 7: Under the circle, draw a big arc as a guide for the Genie's jaw/chin. The line for this guide starts at the end of the horizontal construction line on the left side, then moves down and to the right before coming back up and ending at the bottom part of the ear.
Step 8: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have learned how to draw the Genie's basic shape. Now go in and tighten your drawing. When learning how to draw the Genie from this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 9: Now learn how to draw the Genie's eyes by using the small ovals as guides. Make the tops and bottoms of the ovals a bit pointier. Draw a line on the lower right side of the eye on the right as the top of the cheek. Inside each of this Aladdin character's eyes, draw a small circle and shade it in for the pupil.
Step 10: High above each eye, draw a long curved shape for the Genie's eyebrows. The eyebrow on the left should be smaller because of perspective.
Step 11: Use the small arc as a guide to draw the Genie's nose. Bend the nose down a bit more as you darken it and make the end pointier.
Step 12: Use the C-shaped arc on the right as a guide when learning how to draw the Genie's ear. Make the top of the ear a lot taller and pointier, and extend it outside of the main circle. Draw a few lines within the shape for the inner structure.
Step 13: Now learn how to draw the Genie's mouth by using the shape under his nose as a guide. Follow the basic path of the guide line and make the top right side taller. It should extend toward the horizontal construction line. Don't draw the left portion of this Aladdin character's mouth yet; leave the gap open.
Step 14: Draw two lines inside the Genie's mouth, one on top and one on the bottom, for his teeth. Draw two curved lines in between for the tongue and a tiny line on the left side to close up the mouth shape.
Step 15: Draw the top and left side of the Genie's face using a series of curved lines. The top of his head consists of a line that starts at the left eyebrow and curves back toward the ear. Then draw two shorter lines on the left side to complete the side of this Aladdin character's face.
Step 16: Now learn how to draw the Genie's hair on top of his head. First draw a small half circle right on top of the head for the metallic hair tie. On top of that, draw two long curved lines that come to a point for this Aladdin character's small tuft of hair.
Step 17: Now learn how to draw the beard on Aladdin's Genie. Use the arc under the main circle as a guide. Follow the path of the line as you draw the strip of beard. At the bottom of the beard, curve the end to give the tip the distinctive swirl.
Step 18: Use the rest of the arc under the main circle to finish up your Genie drawing. Close up the chin on the left and right using curved lines. Also draw an extra line on the right for the Genie's neck.
Step 19: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of the Genie from Walt Disney's Aladdin. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to next step.
Step 20: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have learned how to draw a finished inked drawing of the Genie from Walt Disney's Aladdin! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Genie drawing.
Final Step: For a completely finished Genie drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color his hair, eyebrows and beard black. The metal hair tie is yellow. His skin is light blue. The inside of his mouth is brown, and his tongue is red. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of the Genie from Walt Disney's Aladdin.
