Intro: Start drawing Pikachu with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don't press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: To draw Pikachu, start with a vertical rectangle with rounded corners. Draw this shape on the right side of the paper to make room for Pikachu's tail. This will be the basic shape for his head and body.
Step 2: Now draw a vertical line that divides the shape equally in half and a horizontal line that divides it equally on top and bottom. Draw another horizontal line in the middle of the top part. These are all construction lines that will help you place Pikachu's features later on.
Step 3: Next, draw the basic shape of Pikachu's head in between the horizontal construction line in the center and the top of the main shape. Round out his head on the top, taper it in near the top horizontal construction line, and then bring the line in closer at the horizontal construction line in the middle of the rectangle.
Step 4: Draw in Pikachu's body by starting in close on top, just outside of his neck, and then widening the bottom. Also, at the bottom, draw the shape up in a bit toward the vertical construction line.
Step 5: Pikachu's ears are basic leaf or feather shapes. Draw the left one going up vertically and draw the right one horizontally to give Pikachu character.
Step 6: Draw two tilted U shapes on either side of the vertical line beneath the center horizontal line to create Pikachu's arms. Under his body on either side, draw two triangle shapes that point outward for his feet.
Step 7: Break down Pikachu's tail by drawing a series of rectangles. This will make it easier to draw later. Draw a wide horizontal rectangle to the left of his head at about the height of the top horizontal construction line. Then draw two smaller vertical rectangles underneath it, with the lowest rectangle touching Pikachu's body.
Step 8: That's it for the initial sketch of Pikachu from Pokemon! You have the basic Pikachu shape, so now you will go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 9: To create this Pokemon character's eyes, draw two circles that sit on top of the top horizontal construction line on either side of the vertical line. Draw two smaller circles inside of them to represent glare. Shade in the eyes except for the inner glare circles. Draw a tiny upside-down triangle where the top horizontal construction line and the vertical line meet. This will create Pikachu's nose. And right below his nose, draw a wide and rounded-off W-shaped line for Pikachu's mouth.
Step 10: Darken in Pikachu's ears and head. Draw two diagonal lines on the top part of his ears and draw two circles on his cheeks.
Step 11: Tighten the shape of Pikachu's hands and draw five small triangles at the end of each to represent his fingers/claws.
Step 12: Now darken in the rest of Pikachu's body. When drawing his feet, add in two lines on each foot to represent his toes.
Step 13: Pikachu's tail looks like the shape you made by drawing three rectangles, but just taper these lines in and widen them in certain areas. Pikachu's tail is essentially a zigzag shape. Don't forget to draw the horizontal zigzag line near the bottom of Pikachu's tail.
Step 14: That's it! You now have a nice sketch of Pikachu from Pokemon. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the step below.
Step 15: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Pikachu from Pokemon! You can stop here or go for the final step to complete your Pikachu drawing.
Final Step: For a completely finished Pikachu drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Pikachu is a pretty character easy to color. His body is yellow, his cheek circles are red and the base of his tail is brown. That's it! You now have a completed drawing of Pikachu from Pokemon.
