To draw this Soccer Player step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to go at your own pace. The written step-by-step video tutorial:

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Step 1: Lightly sketch two small triangles close to each other for the soccer player's eyes. When you get the position and shapes right, darken the lines. Make the top lines longer and curvier for eyebrows. If you'd like, you can add a dot inside each eye for pupils, but the character looks cool with blank eyes.

Step 2: Below the eye on the left, draw a short, L-shaped line for the nose. Curve the bottom, right of the soccer player's nose a bit for the nostril. Below the nose, draw two short lines for the mouth and lower lip. Make the lower lip line shorter.

Step 3: Draw an angled line around the face for the lower part of the soccer player's head. The shape is narrow toward the bottom. The chin should be flat, and the jaw wide on the right side. Sketch lightly at first to get the shape right. Draw a line above the eye on the left for a bit of the athlete's forehead.

Step 4: On the right side, above the jaw, draw a short, curved line for the ear. On the left side of the ear, draw a short, wavy line for the sideburn. At the top, high above the eye, draw a series of short, curved, vertical lines for the first part of the soccer player's hair.

Step 5: Draw a series of short lines around the head to create the rest of the soccer player's hair. Don't draw every single strand of hair. Draw the overall shape of the flowing hair using short strokes. Draw a few wavy spikes at the top to give the hair the appearance of motion. Under the head, draw a short, curved shape for the neck.

Step 6: Starting below the ear, draw a long line that curves to the left for the first part of the soccer player's shirt sleeve. Draw a couple more long, curved lines under the neck to finish the sleeve. The sleeve shape should be similar to a bell on its side.

Step 7: To the left of the sleeve, draw two long, wavy, horizontal lines for the soccer player's arm. Curve the lines to emphasize the elbow. At the end, on the left, draw a circular shape for the athlete's fist. Draw a couple of curved lines on the left edge for the folded fingers and on the bottom for the palm.

Step 8: Draw a long line from the arm to the left side of the face for the top part of the soccer player's torso. Add a small line inside for the chest. At the top, draw a short, curved shape for the other sleeve.

Step 9: To the left of the sleeve, draw two lines that curve downward for the soccer player's other arm. Bend the lines to emphasize the elbow. At the bottom, draw a circular shape for the fist. At the bottom of the fist, draw a couple of short, curved lines for the athlete's folded fingers.

Step 10: Starting below the first arm, draw a line that curves to the right for the first part of the leg. Draw another curved line up to the arm on the right for the bottom edge of the shorts. At the bottom, draw a couple of short, curved lines for the leg opening on the soccer player's shorts.

Step 11: Below the shirt sleeve, draw a line that curves down for the soccer player's knee. On the left side, draw a long, curved line for the calf section of the leg. Sketch lightly at first. On the right, draw another vertical line that has a small bump for the shin guard. When you get the shapes right, darken the lines. Draw a line below the athlete's knee for the sock. Below that, draw a vertical line to emphasize the shape of the shin guard.

Step 12: At the bottom, draw a shape that's sort of like an irregular oval for the soccer player's foot. The bottom of the shape should curve for the foot's arch. The right side should be a bit pointy. At the top, draw a small, square-like shape for the tongue. Inside the shape, draw a curved line for the sole. On the bottom of the sole, draw a series of small, V-shaped lines for the studs on the soccer player's shoe. Draw four cleats on the left side and five on the right side.

Step 13: Below the top part of the first leg, draw a big, L-shaped line for the other leg on the shorts. Under that, draw two long, wavy, vertical lines for the middle section of the soccer player's leg. These lines curve inward at the bottom to create the knee.

Step 14: Below the athlete's knee, draw a line for the top of the sock and two longer lines for the rest of the leg. The lines should curve inward a bit. Add a line inside for the soccer player's shin guard.

Step 15: At the bottom, draw an oval-like shape for the soccer player's shoe. Curve the left edge for the arch. The right edge should be flat. At the top, draw a square for the tongue. Below that, add a rectangle for the laces.

Step 16: To the left, add the soccer ball by first making four small marks to determine the width and length. Then connect the marks using curved lines to complete the circle. On the right, draw a few lines for speed lines. If you're struggling to draw the circle, just trace the outer rim of a circular object like a coin or a bottle cap.

Step 17: Draw the classic soccer ball pattern using a series of geometric shapes. The pattern consists of a few hexagons and pentagons connected by their sides. The shapes closer to the edges aren't completely visible, so they'll look like triangles. If you're struggling with the soccer ball pattern, you can skip this step entirely and just have a blank ball.

Step 18 (optional): Draw a bit more detail throughout the athlete's uniform. Add a number across the chest. Most of the number will be blocked by the arm, so only draw the top. You can add details like bands at the ends of the sleeves and a circle on the shoulder. You can add a stripe on the side of the soccer player's shorts using two curved lines. If you'd like, you can look up your favorite club or national team and try to duplicate its design on your drawing.

Step 19: Using a pen or marker, carefully draw over the lines to make soccer player drawing permanent.

Final Step: Color your soccer player drawing any way you'd like using color pencils, markers or even crayons! For this look, use brown for the hair and peach for the skin. If you don't have peach, use light brown or yellow-orange. Use blue for the main part of the soccer player's jersey and the stripes on the shorts. You can also color your drawing using your favorite club or national team's colors instead. Use red for the socks but leave a couple of sections blank at the tops for stripes. Use dark gray for the main part of the athlete's shoes and black for the patches on the soccer ball. Use light gray for the rest of the shoes and for shadows. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
