Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

 

Step 1: Start by drawing a circle near the top of the page. This will be the basic shape for the top of Starfire's head. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide.

 

Step 2: On the bottom of the circle, draw a line as a guide for Starfire's chin and jaw. The line should be pointy at the bottom and similar to a letter V with long ends that stretch toward the sides of the circle. The combined shapes form the guide for Starfire's whole head.

 

Step 3: Draw two long intersecting lines inside the head shape, one vertical and one horizontal. Bend the lines so that they contour to the shape of the head. These are construction lines that will help you place Starfire's facial features later on.

 

Step 4: Draw two small circles as guides for Starfire's eyes. Draw them sitting on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line. The circle on the right should be a bit wider because of the perspective.

 

Step 5: Draw a curved line similar to a backward letter C on the right side of the head as a guide for Starfire's ear.

Step 6: Under the head, draw two curved lines for Starfire's neck. The lines should bend outward a bit to form the top part of the shoulders.

 

Step 7: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic shape of Starfire from Teen Titans. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

 

Step 8: Use the initial circles as guides to draw the shapes of Starfire's eyes. Follow the basic path of the circles and make the lines thicker as you darken them. Draw a couple of thick pointy shapes on the top sides of eyes to represent Starfire's eyelashes.

 

Step 9: Inside each eye, draw an oval for the irises. Inside each iris, add a big dot for Starfire's pupils. On either side of each iris, draw a small circle to represent glare.

 

Step 10: Above each eye, draw a small triangle-like shape for each eyebrow. Make the corners of the triangles rounder and the sides bulge out. Starfire is from the planet Tamaran, so she doesn't have human eyebrows. To the left of the vertical construction line and under the horizontal construction line, draw a short, pointy line for Starfire's nose. This is basically the shadow of her small nose.

Step 11: Draw a couple of long curved lines under Starfire's nose for her open mouth. Use the bottom of the main circle and the construction lines as guides for the placement of the mouth.

 

Step 12: Draw another line on the top part of the mouth for Starfire's teeth. Draw a smaller line on the side to complete the side of the mouth and another small curved line at the bottom for the tongue.

 

Step 13: Starfire's hair is a bit tricky, so it's divided into two parts. First draw the front of the hair or the bangs. Draw three small V-shaped lines on either side of the vertical construction line for the bottom of the bangs. Then draw a long curved line above each set of V's for the top part of the bangs.

 

Step 14: Now draw the second part of Starfire's hair. Draw a long curved line that starts on the top part of the bangs on the left, curve over the head and down toward the shoulder on the right. Now draw two long, pointy set of lines on either side of the head for the rest of Starfire's hair.

 

Step 15: Use the main circle as a guide to draw the side and bottom of Starfire's face. Follow the basic path of the shapes as you darken the line to create the face and chin. Use the curved C-shaped line on the right as a guide to draw the ear. Darken the line and draw a couple more lines within it to represent the structure.

Step 16: Use the lines under the head as guides to draw the metal portion of Starfire's suit. Follow the basic path of the guides and add a small curved line on the neck for the top part of it. Then draw a longer curved line at the bottom for the lower part of the metallic section.

 

Step 17: Draw two circles inside each other on the bottom part of the metallic section for the jewel on Starfire's chest plate. Draw a couple of lines on either side of the jewel for further detail.

 

Step 18: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Starfire from Teen Titans. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the step below.

 

Step 19: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Starfire! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Starfire drawing.

 

Final Step: For a completely finished Starfire drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Starfire's hair and eyebrows are dark red. You can add some wavy pink sections throughout the hair to represent shine. Her eyes are yellow-green, and her irises are green. Her skin is light orange, and her tongue is grayish red. The inside of her mouth is black. Most of the jewel on her chest plate is black with a small section on the side that's green. The metal portion is light purple. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of Starfire from Teen Titans.
