How to Draw a Creeper (Minecraft)
Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw a Creeper from the video game Minecraft. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Start by drawing a skewed square near the top of the page for the front part of the Creeper's head. First draw two vertical lines. Make sure that the line on the right is a tiny bit longer than the one on the left. Then connect the two vertical lines at the top and bottom using two horizontal lines.
Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the square, one vertical and one horizontal. The end result should be similar to a window. These will be construction lines that will help you place the Creeper's facial features later on.
Step 3: Draw the back portion of the Creeper's head using three more lines. First draw another vertical line to the left of the square. This line should be shorter than the very first vertical line from step one, the line in the middle. Now add a horizontal line at the top and bottom to connect the vertical line to the front square.
Step 4: Draw a rectangle under the Creeper's head for the body. First draw three long vertical lines under the body. Be sure to draw the line in the middle longer than the lines on the sides. Then close the shape at the bottom by adding two horizontal lines, a long one on the left and a short one on the right. Remember this short line for the next step.
Step 5: Now draw the top part of the Creeper's feet using some diagonal lines. The lines on the front form somewhat of a diamond shape and the lines in the back form a small triangle. Remember the short line from the previous step? Make sure that the right-most lines are all parallel. They should basically form one continuous line.
Step 6: Draw the bottom part of the Creeper's feet using more lines. Draw three lines coming down from the corners of the previous shape. These lines should be about the same size, but the middle one looks longer because of the perspective. Close the bottom part using two more lines. These lines at the bottom should be parallel to the corresponding lines at the top in order to form a cube for the feet.
Step 7: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic Creeper shape. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 8: For the Creeper's eyes, draw two small squares sitting on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line.
Step 9: Under the eyes, draw the top part of the Creeper's mouth using a few short lines. First draw a short horizontal line that connects the bottom corner of the eyes. Then add a couple of lines on the sides that look like the letter L. So the end result will be similar to this: ⅃¯L.
Step 10: Now add the bottom part of the Creeper's mouth. First draw two short vertical lines under the ends of the line of the previous step. Then add a small rectangle-like shape at the bottom edge of the head.
Step 11: Darken the path of the initial lines to create the Creeper's cube head.
Step 12: Darken the path of the initial rectangle-like shape to create the Creeper's torso.
Step 13: Use the initial lines as guides to draw the Creeper's front foot. Notice that the middle line for the torso just continues to create the back portion of the front foot. Draw a horizontal line at the bottom of the front part of the foot.
Step 14: Draw the Creeper's foot in the back like the one in the front. Simply continue the vertical line from the torso and add a horizontal line near the bottom edge.
Step 15: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of a Creeper from Minecraft. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the next step.
Step 16: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of a Creeper! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Creeper drawing.
Final Step: For a completely finished Creeper drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color the Creeper's body green. There are little squares within the shape of the eyes that are black, and the rest is dark gray. The mouth also has a black shape, and the rest is dark gray. The bottom section of the feet also has a black and dark gray pattern. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of a Creeper from the Minecraft video game.
