Intro: Start drawing Ben 10 with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: To draw Ben 10, start with an oval with a pointy bottom in the middle of the page. You don't have to draw this shape perfectly. It’s only a guide for Ben 10’s head.
Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the head shape, one vertical and one horizontal. When drawing these lines, bend them slightly to contour to the shape of the head. Below the horizontal line draw two smaller lines. These are construction lines that will help you place Ben 10’s facial features later on.
Step 3: Sitting on top of the horizontal line on either side of the vertical line, draw a half circle for Ben 10's eyes. Draw the eye on the right slightly smaller because of perspective.
Step 4: On either side of the head where the horizontal construction line ends, draw a curved line similar to a letter C for Ben 10's ears. Again draw the one on the right smaller.
Step 5: That's it for the initial sketch of Ben 10! You have the basic Ben 10 shape, so now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 6: Darken the top and bottom of Ben 10's eyes. Inside each eye draw a circle for his iris, a shaded circle for his pupil and a smaller circle on the side to represent glare.
Step 7: Above each eye draw thick, angled shape for Ben 10's eyebrows. Draw a small line in between them as a little wrinkle.
Step 8: Sitting on top of the small construction line, draw Ben 10's nose as an angled line that goes up to the bigger horizontal line. To the left of that line draw a tiny curved line for his nostril.
Step 9: Draw Ben 10's smirk as a wavy line by using the lowest horizontal construction line as a guide for placement.
Step 10: His hair can be tricky, so this section about how to draw Ben 10's hair is divided into two parts. Starting where the left ear is, draw a series of lines similar to the letter V going across his forehead on top of his eyes. This will create Ben 10's sideburn and the front of his hair or bangs. Draw another line over the right ear too for his other sideburn.
Step 11: Now draw the top of Ben 10's head by again starting at the top of the left ear and going around the initial oval shape. At the top of Ben 10's head, draw two spikes to indicate his messy hair and one final V shaped spike to the right.
Step 12: Tighten the shape of the left ear by drawing it more angular and drawing a few lines within it to indicate the inner ear structure. Darken the ear on the right too.
Step 13: Darken the bottom portion of the original oval to create Ben 10's cheek, chin and jaw. On the left side of his face, draw a few angular lines to indicate the back of his shaggy hair.
Step 14: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Ben 10. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the step below.
Step 15: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Ben 10! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Ben drawing.
Final Step: For a completely finished Ben 10 drawing, you have to color it. Inside the shape of Ben 10's hair, color in a wavy line with light brown to represent the sheen in his hair. Color the rest of his hair brown and his eyebrows dark brown. Ben 10's eyes are light green and his skin is peach. If you don’t have peach, improvise and use yellow-orange or light brown. Experiment! That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of Ben Tennyson from Ben 10.
