To draw Bugs Bunny step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to go at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below. The new lines in each step are shown in red, and each step is explained in the text below the photo, so you'll know exactly what to draw in each step. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods! Take your time and draw at your own pace.

The written step-by-step video tutorial:

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Step 1: Draw a small oval as a guide for Bugs Bunny's head. First make two small marks to determine the oval's height. Then make two more marks on the sides for the oval's width. Tilt the marks a bit so the oval is also tilted. Connect the marks using curved lines to finish the shape of the oval. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake.

Step 2: Inside the oval, draw a curved, vertical line as a guide to place Bugs Bunny's facial features later. Add a curved, horizontal line near the middle for another guide. The vertical line should be close to the left side.

Step 3: Below the head, draw a long, curved shape similar to a rectangle as a guide for Bugs Bunny's body. Make the sides of the shape wavy. The top and bottom should be flat. The body should be about twice as long as the head. The bottom should be wider than the top. Draw two lines that connect the head to the body for Bugs Bunny's neck.

Step 4: Starting on the top, right side of the body, draw an angled line as a guide for Bugs Bunny's first arm. At the bottom end of the line, draw a small circle overlapping the body as a guide for the hand.

Step 5: On the top, left side of the body, draw a line that angles up as a guide for the other arm. At the end of the line, draw another small circle as a guide for Bugs Bunny's other hand.

Step 6: Starting on the lower, right side of the body, draw a long, vertical line as a guide for Bugs Bunny's first leg. At the bottom, draw a shape that's a bit similar to an oval on its side as a guide for the foot. This shape should be pretty big in relation to the body. The left side should be thinner, like a drop of water.

Step 7: Draw a similar shape to the left as a guide for Bugs Bunny's other leg and foot. Notice that the lines for the legs slope to the left a bit. Make the guide for this foot smaller than the first foot.

That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more defined drawing.

Step 8: Inside the head, to the left of where the guides intersect, draw a tiny triangle for Bugs Bunny's nose. To the left of the nose, draw a line that curves outside of the head for the top part of the cheek. Use the initial lines as guides. To the right draw a longer line that curves outside of the head for the other cheek. These lines should curve down outside of the initial oval. The line on the right should be longer.

Step 9: Continue to draw the line on the right down toward the bottom of the oval to complete the cheek. Draw three short, angled lines along the way for the tufts of fur on Bugs Bunny's cheek. Continue to draw the line on the left side downward for the other cheek too. Add some angled lines along the way for the fur on the cheeks.

Step 10: On top of the cheek, to the right of the horizontal guide, draw a long arc for the first eye. Make the arc pointy at the top. The top of the eye should almost touch the edge of the oval. Draw another tall, pointy arc to the left of the vertical guide for Bugs Bunny's other eye. This eye should be a bit smaller, and it should be close to the left edge of the oval.

Step 11: Draw a small line across each eye for the eyelids. This gives Bugs a mischievous look. The eyelids should be close to the bottom of the eyes, almost closed. Make them pointy on the left sides. Below the eyelids on the right side, draw a dot for the pupils. Above each eye, along the edge of the initial oval, draw an arc for Bugs Bunny's thick brows.

Step 12: Below the nose, draw two short, curved lines for the first part of the top of Bugs Bunny's mouth. These two short lines should form a shape that's similar to a curved letter W. On the sides of this shape, draw longer lines to finish the top part of the open mouth.

Step 13: Under the mouth, draw a rectangular shape for Bugs Bunny's buck teeth. Make the bottom corners rounder and add a line at the top to split the teeth a bit.

Step 14: Draw a curved line to the right of the teeth for the bottom part of the open mouth. You can also skip this step for a closed-mouth look. Draw a bit of the mouth to the left of the teeth too. Draw curved line under the mouth for the lower lip and two lines inside the mouth for Bugs Bunny's tongue.

Step 15: Draw three long lines on either side of the top of the mouth for Bugs Bunny's whiskers. Don't overthink these lines. They don't have to be perfect. Just draw three quick strokes on either side.

Step 16: Draw a long, curved line on the top, right side of the head for the first ear. Bugs Bunny's ears should be almost one and a half times the length of his head. Add another curved line on the left to complete the ear. The middle should be wider than the top and bottom.

Step 17: Draw a short line from the ear to the cheek for the side of the head. At the top, draw a short line that connects the brows for the top of Bugs Bunny's head. Above the brow on the right, draw three short, curved, spike-like shapes for tufts of hair.

Step 18: To the left of Bugs Bunny's first ear, draw the second ear the same way. Use two long, curved lines to form the shape. Make the tip pointy and the middle part wide. Don't overlap the tufts of hair at the bottom.

Step 19: Inside each of Bugs Bunny's ears, draw a shape that's similar to the ears for the ears' openings. Follow the path of the outer ears to draw the shape of the inner ears.

Step 20: Use the angled line to the right of the body as a guide to draw Bugs Bunny's first arm. Darken the line and make the top part more curved to create the shoulder. Draw another angled line on the left side to make the shape of the arm thicker. At the bottom, draw a small, curved line for the opening of the glove.

Step 21: Use the circle at the bottom as a guide to draw the fist. At the top, draw a curved line similar to an arc on its side for the thumb. Follow the left edge of the circle to draw the side of Bugs Bunny's hand but make it flatter. Draw a series of curved lines at the bottom for the folded fingers. The fist should be thinner than the initial circle. Don't overlap the thumb with the fingers.

Step 22: Use the rectangular shape in the middle as a guide to draw the body. Darken the top lines for the neck. Darken the left edge of the shape but make the bottom part narrower. Draw a line near the left edge of the shape all the way up to the neck for the white part of the torso. Curve this line along the shape of Bugs Bunny's body. Darken the right side but don't overlap the hand.

Step 23: Use the angled line on the left as a guide to draw Bugs Bunny's other arm. Follow the path of the guide and draw the arm around it. Don't make the shape too thick. At the end of the arm, draw a small, curved shape for the glove's opening.

Step 24: Use the circle on the left as a guide to draw the hand. First draw the thumb inside the circle. Draw the thumb at the bottom of the circle as a thin shape that angles in the middle and curves to the left. At the top, draw another thin, curved shape for the index finger. Leave a space between the thumb and finger for Bugs Bunny's carrot. To the left, draw another curved line for the other finger. Bugs has only three fingers and a thumb. To the left, draw a thin shape that curves to the left for the raised pinky.

Step 25: Draw a cylindrical shape between the fingers on the left side for Bugs Bunny's carrot. On the right side of the thumb and fingers, draw the tip of the carrot and make it thinner. On the right, draw a few jagged lines for the bitten-off tip of the carrot. Add some lines to the shape for detail. On the left side, draw two lines that curve down for the carrot's stem. At the bottom, draw a series of curved lines to form the shape of the leafy part of the carrot.

Step 26: Use the line on the lower, right side as a guide to draw the first leg. Draw the shape of the leg around the guide. Don't make Bugs Bunny's leg too thick. Use the oval-like shape on the bottom as a guide to draw the foot. Draw a curved line across the shape to separate the thin foot from the big toes. At the tip, draw two curved lines to separate the individual toes.

Step 27: Use the line and shape on the left as guides to draw Bugs Bunny's other leg and foot the same way. Draw the leg around the guide and keep the shape thin. At the bottom, darken the tip of the shape and add a curved line for the toes. Draw a curved line across the shape to separate the colors and make the foot thinner.

Step 28: To the right of the fist, draw a small, curved shape with jagged lines along the way for Bugs Bunny's fluffy tail.

Step 29: Go over the final sketch lines with a pen, marker or any other type of permanent ink. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser for a cleaner drawing.

Final Step: Color your Bugs Bunny drawing using colored pencils, markers or crayons! Use gray for the main part of the body. Use pink for the inner ears, the tongue and the nose. Color the inside of the mouth brown. Use orange and green for the carrot. Don't forget to pause the video to draw Bugs Bunny at your own pace.
