Intro: When learning how to draw The Simpsons' Maggie Simpson, start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Start by drawing a circle at the top half of the page. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide for the Maggie Simpson’s head.
Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across Maggie Simpson's head guide, one vertical and one horizontal. The top part of the vertical line and the left side of the horizontal line should stick out of the circle a bit. These will be construction lines that will help you when learning how to draw the facial features of this cartoon character from The Simpsons later on.
Step 3: Draw a small circle inside of Maggie Simpson's head. Place the circle directly in the middle where the two construction lines intersect. Draw another almost-complete circle on the right side. These will be guides for Maggie Simpson's eyes.
Step 4: Under the eyes, draw an oval as a guide for Maggie Simpson's nose. The edge of the oval should graze the eye on the left and overlap the eye on the right a little.
Step 5: On the lower right side of the main circle, draw another oval. This is a guide that will help you learn how to draw Maggie Simpson's pacifier later on. Place the oval right over the edge of the main circle.
Step 6: On the lower left side of the main circle, draw a shape similar to a letter C with a line under it (or think of it as a backward question mark) as a guide for Maggie Simpson's ear and neck.
Step 7: Under the main circle, draw another circle that's a bit smaller as a guide for Maggie Simpson's body. Don’t draw the circle too low; otherwise Maggie's body will be too long.
Step 8: Draw a couple of curved lines on top that connect Maggie Simpson's body to her head and a couple more that form the bottom part of her body. The end result should somewhat resemble a bowling pin.
Step 9: On the right side of the body, draw a line that has a circle at the end. On the outside of that circle, draw four small lines as guides for Maggie's fingers. This is a guide for learning how to draw Maggie Simpson's arm and hand later on.
Step 10: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic Maggie Simpson shape. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 11: Darken the right side of the small oval inside her head to finish drawing Maggie Simpson's nose.
Step 12: Darken the circles for Maggie Simpson's eyes. Inside each eye, draw a small dot for her pupils. Use the construction lines to help you with the placement of the dots. On the outer, top portion of each eye, draw three small, curved lines for Maggie's eyelashes.
Step 13: Now finish learning how to draw this cartoon character's pacifier. Draw a shape similar to a thick letter U on the lower right side of the oval for the handle on Maggie Simpson's pacifier. Darken the top part of the oval to complete the pacifier.
Step 14: Darken Maggie Simpson's ear and neck and draw a couple of lines inside the ear for structure. Draw a few more curved lines for the rest of Maggie's face.
Step 15: On top of the main oval, on the right side of the vertical construction line, draw a small oval using two triangle-like shapes and a circle. This will create the bow in Maggie Simpson's hair.
Step 16: Now learn how to draw the hair of this cartoon character from The Simpsons. Maggie Simpson's hair is a bit tricky, so it's divided into two parts. First draw the top of her hair using four shapes similar to triangles with rounded tops. Follow the path of the main circle so the triangles form an arc around Maggie's head. Draw one triangle on the left side of the vertical construction line and the remaining three in between the vertical construction line and the eye on the right.
Step 17: Now draw the rest of Maggie Simpson's hair by using the left side of the horizontal construction line and the main circle as guides. Follow the path of the main circle as you draw the remaining four triangles so that they arc around her head. Notice that the triangles get smaller as they get closer to Maggie's neck.
Step 18: Draw the arm on the right by using the initial lines as a guides. Follow the basic path of the line and make the shape thicker. Draw the shirtsleeve at the end. Draw Maggie Simpson's hand and fingers at the end by thickening up the lines.
Step 19: Use the left side of Maggie Simpson's body as a guide to draw the left arm. Draw a thick curved shape for Maggie's arm and sleeve. Then draw the fingers at the end. Notice that the fingers touch the bottom part of the circle guide.
Step 20: Now learn how to draw the rest of Maggie Simpson's body by using the remaining lines as guides. Draw a couple of bumps on the lower left side to create the extra cloth of Maggie's long onesie and a bump on the lower right side for her foot.
Step 21: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Maggie Simpson. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look, or continue to the step below to go for a more finished look.
Step 22: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then erase your pencil marks. You now have a finished inked drawing of Maggie Simpson from The Simpsons! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete learning how to draw The Simpsons' Maggie Simpson.
Final Step: For a completely finished Maggie Simpson drawing, you have to color it. You can use anything you want: markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color Maggie's hair and skin yellow. Her pacifier is red, and her bow and onesie are light blue. That’s it! You now have learned how to draw The Simpsons character Maggie Simpson.
