To draw Homer step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to go at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below. The written step-by-step video tutorial:

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Step 1: Draw a circle near the top of the paper as a guide for Homer Simpson's head. First make four marks to determine the circle's height and width. Then connect the marks using curved lines. If you're struggling to draw the circle, just trace the outer rim of a circular object like a coin or a lid.

Step 2: Draw a couple of lines on the sides of the circle for the bottom of Homer Simpson's head. The lines should almost be as long as the length of the circle. Close off the shape at the bottom using a short, curved line.

Step 3: Below the head, draw a bigger circle as the guide for the body using the four-marks method too. The top mark should be below the head. Leave a small space between the head and this circle. This circle should be about as big as the height of the two combined head shapes. Don't draw this circle too far below the head or your Homer Simpson will be too tall.

Step 4: Draw a long, vertical line across the head, close to the left side, as a guide to help you place Homer Simpson's facial features later. Pay attention to the placement of this line. Draw two sloping lines to connect the head to the body.

Step 5: Under Homer Simpson's body, on the right side, draw two long, vertical lines as a guide for the first pant leg. These lines should be about as long as the height of the body circle. Close off the bottom with a smaller line.

Step 6: Below the leg, draw a small shape as a guide for Homer Simpson's shoe. The shape should be pointy on the left side.

Step 7: To the left, draw a similar long shape as a guide for the other pant leg. At the bottom, draw an angled line as a guide for Homer Simpson's other shoe.

That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more defined drawing.

Step 8: Inside the first circle, at the bottom, draw a small circle for Homer Simpson's first eye. The eye should sit directly on the lower edge of the first circle, and the left side should touch the guide line. The top edge of the eye should be at about the center of the first circle. Add a small dot in the middle for the pupil.

Step 9: On the lower, left side of the eye, draw a small arc for Homer Simpson's nose. Use the initial lines as guides. The shape of the nose should be similar to the letter U on its side.

Step 10: To the left of Homer Simpson's first eye, draw a curved line for the second eye. This line should be a circle, but the first eye and nose block the edges. The left side of the eye should stick out of the guide a bit. Draw a dot in the middle for the pupil.

Step 11: On the lower, left side of the nose, draw a line that slopes down for the first part of the mouth. Follow the edge of the guide as you draw this line. Then curve it to the right to create the smile. Add an extra bump on the bottom, left side of the line for the top lip. Don't draw Homer Simpson's mouth too far to the right. At the end, draw a tiny line for a smile line.

Step 12: Extend the line for the nose and curve it downward to create the rest of the mouth section. Curve the line around the smile toward the bottom of the initial guide. At the bottom, curve the line back up toward the middle of the smile to give Homer an overbite. At the top of the line, draw an extra bump for Homer Simpson's lower lip.

Step 13: On the right side of the head, below the original circle, draw a small, curved line for Homer Simpson's ear. This line should be similar to a backward letter C. Draw a couple of lines inside the ear for structure.

Step 14: Darken the top edge of the initial circle to create the shape of Homer Simpson's head. Add an extra bump above the left eye for the brow. Make the top of the head a bit wider than the circle.

Step 15: On top of the head, draw two curved lines for the comb over. When you draw the first line, give it some height. Don't draw it too close against Homer's head. Draw another curved line overlapping the first for the other hair strand. Above the ear, draw an angled line that looks like the letter M for the hair on the sides. Darken the initial lines under the head for Homer Simpson's neck.

Step 16: Below the head, draw a series of angled lines for the shirt's collar. Below the mouth, draw a line that's looks like the letter V for the middle of the collar. Extend the line to the right of the neck for the top edge of the collar. On the right, draw a small, rectangular shape for the folded collar. Add a line on the left side too. The entire front of Homer's collar should be similar to a wide letter M.

Step 17: On the bottom, right side of the collar, draw a small, semi-circular shape for the shirt sleeve. The shape is made up of a curved top side and a flat bottom. Sketch lightly at first to get the shape right. Pay attention to the shape's size and position. The resulting shape should be similar to a letter D on its side.

Step 18: Darken the right edge of the initial circle for the first part of Homer Simpson's arm. To the left, draw similar curved line for the arm's other edge. Don't make the arm too thin. On the bottom, right side, where the pant line begins, draw a tiny, U-shaped line for Homer's first finger. Draw two more tiny, U-shaped lines to the left for a total of three fingers. Connect the fingers to the line for the arm on the left side and close off the shape.

Step 19: Darken the line below the collar on the left for the first part of Homer Simpson's torso. Draw a long, curved, horizontal line near the bottom edge of the initial big circle for the bottom of the shirt. Darken the left edge of the circle, but at the bottom, extend the corner farther out. Make the torso a bit wider than the initial circle and don't overlap the shape of the arm. Add an angled line to the right of the arm for a bit of the back portion of the torso.

Step 20: Draw a short, curved line on the top, left side of Homer's torso for a bit of the other sleeve peeking from behind.

Step 21: Darken the vertical lines on the lower, right side for the first pant leg. Darken the lower edge of the initial circle for the rest of the torso. Add a curved line on the top left for Homer's butt.

Step 22: Draw a curved line inside Homer Simpson's pant leg, near the bottom, for the cuff. Darken the shape of the shoe but draw an angled line on the bottom, right side for the heel.

Step 23: Darken the long shape on the left for the other pant leg. Draw a curved line inside for the cuff and darken the shape of Homer's shoe.

Step 24: Go over the final sketch lines with a pen, marker or any other type of permanent ink. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser for a cleaner drawing.

Final Step: Color your Homer Simpson drawing using colored pencils, markers or crayons! Use yellow for the skin. Use light brown for the mouth and blue for the pants. Use dark gray for Homer's shoes. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
