Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Crow Hogan from Yu-Gi-Oh. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!
Intro: Start drawing the manga character Crow Hogan with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don't press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: To draw Crow Hogan, start by drawing a circle on the bottom half of the page. Draw a V-shaped line below the circle. This makes the basic shape for Crow Hogan's head.
Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the head shape, one vertical and one horizontal. These will be construction lines that will help you place Crow Hogan's features later on. Draw two vertical lines below the shape of his head for his neck.
Step 3: Now draw Crow Hogan's eyes, which are two small angled rectangles that sit on top of the horizontal construction line on either side of the vertical construction line. Draw in two elongated C-shaped curves on either side of Crow Hogan’s head for his ears.
Step 4: That's it for the initial construction lines for Crow Hogan from Yu-Gi-Oh! You have the basic Crow Hogan shape, so now go in and tighten your manga drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 5: Next, draw some eyebrows for this Yu-Gi-Oh! character. Above each eye, draw a boomerang shape or upside-down check mark shape. Crow Hogan's eyebrows should graze the corner of his eyes and almost touch the vertical construction line.
Step 6: Darken the shapes of Crow Hogan's eyes, and draw the lines thicker on the top and sides to simulate eyelashes. Draw two circles inside of Crow Hogan's eyes for his irises, and draw a thick dot in the middle of the irises for his pupils. On the corner of each of his irises, give him a small circle to represent glare.
Step 7: Crow Hogan has a typical Manga nose; it's thin and pointy. Because he is facing us, all we see of this character's nose is the cast shadow to the left. So below the horizontal construction line, draw a light triangle shape and fill it in. Draw in a dark line on the lower edge of the first construction circle that you drew in Step 1 to create Crow Hogan's mouth. Draw another line below the bottom of the construction circle for his lower lip.
Step 8: Darken in the shape of Crow Hogan's face. Don't darken the upper part of his head yet; you will draw his headband there later. Darken in Crow Hogan's neck and draw some lines within it for structure. Also shade below his chin for a shadow.
Step 9: Tighten the shape of this manga character's ears and draw some curved lines within the shape to simulate the structure inside of his ears.
Step 10: Next draw Crow Hogan's earrings. These can be tricky, but they basically look like hexagon nuts. Draw a ring around Crow Hogan's earlobe, which will hold the hexagon nut shapes. For the nut shapes, use the image above as a guide when drawing.
Step 11: Now draw in the shapes on Crow Hogan's face. Draw a big M shape above his eyebrows and a dot to the top left of it. On the outer lower corner of his eyes, draw in the shape of the bottom part of a triangle. Below those shapes on his cheeks, draw a thick zigzag line.
Step 12: Now using the original circle as a guide, draw in Crow Hogan's headband. Draw a curve that follows the original circle that extends to behind his ears. Then draw another curve above that. Connect the ends of those two curves with a line tilting in toward his head. Then draw in a few lines on the lower part of this manga character's headband for detail.
Step 13: Draw a couple of C-shaped curves on the left side of the headband to represent the rings Crow Hogan has dangling from it.
Step 14: His hair is a bit tricky, so this section about how to draw Crow Hogan's hair is broken down in two parts. His hair is essentially a series of curved pointy triangles above his headband. Draw about 10 tufts of hair on the left side of the head. Give Crow Hogan several bunches of lines that extend upward from the top of the headband to simulate his hair.
Step 15: Draw the other half of Crow Hogan's hair using 10 more curved pointy triangles, and also draw more lines above the headband.
Step 16: That's it! You now have a nice sketch of Crow Hogan from Yu-Gi-Oh! You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the step below.
Step 17: For a more finished, inked look, carefully go over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Crow Hogan from Yu-Gi-Oh! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Crow Hogan drawing.
Final Step: For a completely finished Crow Hogan drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color Crow Hogan's hair and eyebrows orange, his headband dark blue and his earrings and headband rings gray. Color in the shapes on his face in yellow and make his eyes blue. Crow Hogan's skin is peach, but if you don't have peach, improvise and use yellow-orange or light brown. Experiment! That's it! You now have a completed drawing of Crow Hogan from Yu-Gi-Oh!
